Welcome from the Mayor
As Mayor, I would like to thank you for choosing to make the City of Canning your new home.

I am proud to say that my own family have been residents of Canning since the late 1950’s and that four generations of my family currently reside right here in the City of Canning. My strong links to the area give me a deep appreciation of this district, and an understanding of the importance of working together to create a community that we can all be proud of.
I am equally proud to have witnessed Canning evolve into a welcoming and thriving community which embraces and celebrates cultures and faith’s from every corner of the world. Canning is a unique cultural melting pot where we respect and admire our differences, take bold steps to demonstrate our inclusivity, and where we also acknowledge and respect our Australian way of life.
Our diversity is our strength. It opens the door to creativity, innovative thinking and fresh ideas borne from curiosity, and an attitude of openness and authenticity. Tolerance, understanding, kindness, and compassion are the cornerstones upon which our community has been built, and so I know that you will be welcomed into this community with open arms.
This is an exciting time to make Canning your home. Our City is evolving rapidly and is changing in response to the needs of today, and the requirements of tomorrow.
