The role of Building Services is that of a Permit Authority and controls the construction, occupation and demolition of buildings and incidental structures through the issuing of permits within the City.

Archival Search for Building Records
Building records when held by the City, are available to the owner of any property in the City of Canning. These records will consist of any approved building plans & documents (e.g. site, floor, elevation and structural details) for the property in question. If you require copies of any Planning approvals (not Building), please see our Planning Services webpage for more information.

The City of Canning will make every effort to obtain copies of the building records within 20 working days, however if plans are not available or are not legible the cost of the Archiving Search will not be refunded. Please refer to the Building Fees Schedule for a list of our current fees for this service. Please note that all fees are due before the search is carried out, we will notify you of how to make payment once your application has been lodged.
