11 April 2025

EcoConnect: A Day of Green Action, Community & FREE Trees in the City of Canning!

Bringing together community & nature to grow our urban canopy for a brighter future.

Join us for EcoConnect, one of the headline events of the WA Tree Festival in the City of Canning, a vibrant, family-friendly celebration of sustainability, local action, and our shared love of trees. Best of all? You can collect a free tree to plant at home and be part of growing a greener future in your own backyard!

As part of our urban greening efforts, we're giving away FREE native trees and verge plant packs to residents. Whether you’re a green thumb or just getting started, you'll receive planting tips and advice to help your new tree flourish.

Claim Your Free Tree!  City of Canning Residents can receive a free tree or plant pack for your garden and contribute to the growth of our urban forest. We have 400 trees and 150 plant packs to give away.

You can register your interest for a tree or a plant pack via the link below, which will need to be collected on the day between 8-11am. *IMPORTANT NOTE* The event runs until 12noon, however due to the popularity of the free trees/packs, you will need to collect before 11am, otherwise we will need to release them to the wait listed visitors on the day.**

Trees cool our neighbourhoods, provide homes for wildlife, and create beautiful, healthy places for us to live and thrive.

What’s Happening at EcoConnect:

  • Free tree giveaway

  • Verge plant packs

  • Eco-marketplace featuring sustainable products & community initiatives

  • Delicious food trucks

  • Art exhibition and Poets Corner

  • Waterwise gardening tips

  • Connect with local eco-conscious community groups

This is a fantastic opportunity to take part in local climate action, learn how to support biodiversity, and contribute to increasing our urban tree canopy.

Every tree planted adds to our shared urban canopy—creating cooler, greener, more livable neighbourhoods for everyone. Whether you’re a passionate gardener or just getting started, EcoConnect is your chance to grow with us.
