Cecil Avenue West is open

The upgraded Cecil Avenue reopened on 20 December 2019.
The street, which is the first stage of the 10 year City Centre Regeneration Program, is equipped with smart poles to accommodate a number of smart features that can be added in over time, including technology to support traffic monitoring systems, CCTV, environmental monitoring, free high speed Wi-Fi, energy-saving lighting and provision for electric vehicle charging in the future.

The road also:
  • has wider footpaths, more trees for shade, improved pedestrian access and a dedicated bus lane
  • has new traffic lights to reduce congestion during the busy Christmas shopping period to make it easier for shoppers around Westfield Carousel and the Cecil Avenue retail strip
  • will be one of the first smart streets in Perth when fully complete.
