The City's economic profile is maintained by .id, an independent community profile and economic analysis platform used by local governments across Australia. It provides detailed data on employment, industry output, population, housing and more.

Open data portal

Through the Open Data Portal, the City publishes a range of open datasets online to support evidence-based decision making by businesses, researchers, planners and investors. All datasets are free to access and published under open licences to encourage reuse. The portal includes information on:

The City of Canning commissioned the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA to produce a detailed analysis of the City's leading industry sectors. The report, published in March 2026, provides sector-level data on revenue, employment, business counts and growth trends, as well as identifying strategic opportunities for investment and economic development.
