Security Incentive Scheme Round 8
The City of Canning’s 'Be Safe and Save' Security Incentive Scheme is back for Round 8!
If you’re a Canning resident looking to install security items, you may be eligible for a rebate in this round of the City’s Security Incentive Scheme. Rebates up to $400* are available for a variety of security products, including security screens, locks, sensor lights, CCTV, and alarm systems.
All devices requiring hard-wired electrical supply, including sensor lights, must be installed by a registered electrician. Applications received with a tax invoice and/or receipt dated prior to 10 May 2026 will not be accepted. The City provides no guarantee that a rebate will be provided to all eligible applicants if the allocated budget is expended prior to the end of the financial year.
Round 8 opens on Monday 3 August and will run through to 30 June 2027, or until funds run out. Rebates are provided on a first come, first served basis and are limited and subject to availability.

The City recommends a licensed professional to install ALL your security items.
However, you may buy and install your items yourself EXCEPT;
- Any hard-wired electrical items. A registered electrician must install devices requiring hard-wired electrical supply, including sensor lights.
- Security screen doors, security window screens and roller shutters also require a licensed security installer, this is to ensure the equipment is to the Australian Standards For Security Screens.
Rebates are paid up to the maximum amount listed on your application form.
Should you buy an item that falls below the rebate amount listed, only the cost of your item will be rebated. For example, the maximum rebate listed for a video door bell is $80, but if yours costs $60, only $60 will be rebated.
No, rebates are offered to those who apply first. We cannot accept your application after the rebates have been expended.
The maximum rebate amount is $300.00 per household, per applicant, per financial year.
If you have a valid Pensioner Concession, Healthcare or WA Seniors Card, the maximum rebate is $400.00 per household, per applicant, per financial year.
If a security item is not explicitly listed on the application form, then it is not included in the scheme.
This includes items required to make the rebated security item work such as DVR's/NVR's, microchips, communicators, alarm sensors and labour cost associated with the installed item.

No, Residents/Property Owners are only entitled to make one application per financial year.
If you want to install multiple items these must be submitted on one application.
No, only one rebate can be claimed per household.
No, the Security Incentives Scheme only provides rebates for items installed at your home.
No, rebates are only offered for residents who are installing security items at a City of Canning residence.
Your rebate will be paid into the bank account you nominated on your application form. Please note that we cannot process your rebate without a copy of your bank statement header, which includes:
- Account Holder Name
- BSB
- Account Number of your nominated account.
Your bank statement header is required to verify the bank account details provided on your application form and to ensure accurate transactions of any rebates.

It is not mandatory to register your home CCTV with police, but the City recommends that you do.
Cam-Map is a secured database operated by the Western Australian Police Force. It contains all voluntarily registered CCTV systems across WA.
