We, the undersigned electors of the City of Canning, draw to the attention of the Council the severe, ongoing road safety hazards on Treasure road, Queens Park.This residential street functions as a major high-use corridor that directly services two local schools (St norbert college and Queens Park primary school) Every day, this creates a high density including young school children, parents with strollers, and local residents.Despite the residential and school zone nature of the area, drivers frequently and consistently exceed the speed limit. While congestion slows traffic down during school opening times, severe and persistent driver speeding occurs frequently during off-peak hours, mid-day, evenings, and weekends when the road is clear.Because the road is residential, this high-speed behavior creates an immediate danger to the local community. The lack of permanent, 24/7 speed-reduction infrastructure allows drivers to treat this corridor as high speed thoroughfare.
