The City of Canning community has once again rallied together to support Western Australians experiencing food insecurity, donating 475 kilograms of food through this year’s Foodbank WA Food Drive.

These generous contributions will provide the equivalent of 856 meals to individuals and families doing it tough across the State.
Mayor Patrick Hall said the result reflects the compassion and commitment of local residents.

“The cost-of-living crisis has placed extraordinary pressure on many households. To see our community step forward with such generosity speaks volumes about the spirit of Canning,” Mayor Hall said.

This is the fourth consecutive year the City of Canning has taken part in the Foodbank WA Food Drive. Over that time, the community has donated a combined 1,611 kilograms of food, helping Foodbank WA reach thousands of people in need.

Drop-off points were set up at the City of Canning Administration Building and Riverton, Willetton and Cannington Libraries, making it easy for residents to contribute during the campaign.

Mayor Hall said the City’s ongoing involvement highlights the importance of local action.

“While the need is great, this food drive shows how much of an impact we can have when we come together. Each donation, no matter how big or small, has helped provide hope and dignity to those in need. I want to thank every resident who gave so generously,” he said.

The City of Canning thanks every community member who donated to this year’s drive.
