A bigger, better creche at Riverton Leisureplex

The Riverton Leisureplex is expanding its creche offering.

In order to keep up with the increasing demand for our creche service, the City of Canning has decided to relocate the creche facility at the Riverton Leisureplex (RLP) to a bigger, better space.

The new creche location, at the Wellness Studio at RLP, will have a capacity of almost double that of the current location, allowing us to provide this popular service to more Leisureplex guests and members.

The creche facility is available to visitors at both the Riverton and Cannington Leisureplexes and offers fully supervised care for children aged 12 weeks through to eight years of age. Children are well-cared for by experienced staff in a fun, safe, and fully-equipped environment. The facility charges a small fee but is free for Fitness Plus members or Swim School customers. Bookings are essential.

“We understand that for parents of young children it can be a real challenge to find the time and space to exercise,” explained City of Canning Service Lead – Leisure Facilities Michael Gosatti.

“Since we introduced the free creche service to our Fitness Plus members, we have seen demand for it continue to rise and we are delighted that we will soon be able to provide this service for more of our guests.”

While every effort will be made to ensure the relocation is as free from disruption as possible, the RLP creche will be closed for a period of one week, from 17 – 23 June 2024, as we add the final touches to the refurbishment. Members are encouraged to make use of the creche facility at the Cannington Leisureplex during this time. The new creche facility at Riverton Leisureplex is expected to reopen on Monday 24 June 2024.

In order to accommodate the creche in the Wellness Studio, it has been necessary to move the existing group fitness classes to alternate venues within RLP and, in certain cases, cancel classes.

While every effort has been made to accommodate classes at similar times, there are some classes where this has not been possible.

The following classes are affected:

• Monday, 10.30am Tai Chi – cancelled. Last class held in the Wellness Suite will be 13 May.
• Monday, 5.30pm Power Yoga – changed to 6.15pm in the F.I.I.T Factory. Last class held in the Wellness Suite will be 13 May.
• Monday, 6.30pm Boxing – changed to 4pm in the F.I.I.T Factory. Last class held in the Wellness Suite will be 13 May.
• Tuesday, 4pm Tone – changed to 4pm in the F.I.I.T Factory. Last class held in the Wellness Suite will be 14 May.
• Tuesday, 6pm Teambeats – already moved to 5.15pm.
• Wednesday, 10am Yoga FIIT – changed to 8.30am in the Bill Cole Function Centre. Last class held in the Wellness Suite will be 15 May.
• Wednesday, 4pm Boxing – changed to 4pm in the F.I.I.T Factory. Last class held in the Wellness Suite will be 15 May.
• Thursday, 8am Senior Pilates – changed to 8am in the F.I.I.T Factory. Last class held in the Wellness Suite will be 2 May.
• Thursday, 9.30am Yogalates – changed to 11.30am in the Bill Cole Function Centre. Last class held in the Wellness Suite will be 2 May.
• Thursday, 6.30pm Pilates – changed to 6.30pm in the F.I.I.T Factory. Last class held in the Wellness Suite will be 2 May.
• Friday, 9.30am Body Balance – changed to 10.30am in the F.I.I.T Factory. Last class held in the Wellness Suite will be 17 May.
• Friday, 10.30am Boxing – cancelled. Last class held in the Wellness Suite will be 17 May.
• Friday, 6.30pm Yoga – changed to 6.30pm in the F.I.I.T Factory. Last class held in the Wellness Suite will be 19 April.
