Dementia Action Week is a national initiative that takes place every year, aimed at raising awareness and understanding of dementia, a condition that affects millions of people worldwide.

This year, Dementia Action Week will take place from 21 – 27 September and the theme is ‘It’s time to talk about dementia’.

Almost half a million Australians are living with dementia today and over 1.7 million people are involved in their care. But we don’t talk about it enough, It can feel too hard to raise. We worry about saying the wrong thing. And it’s often wrongly seen as just a part of getting older.

Dementia Action Week serves as a reminder that everyone has a role to play in supporting individuals living with dementia. By participating in events and spreading awareness, communities can help reduce stigma and promote inclusivity for those affected by this condition.

This Dementia Action Week we challenge everyone in the community to reach out and reconnect to someone impacted by dementia because nobody can do it alone. To get involved visit the Dementia Action Week website.
