ANZAC Service - Civic Amphitheater & Gardens
Tuesday 25 April 2023
March commencing 7.30am & Service from 8am

 

Run in partnership with the Canning Sub-Branch of the Returned & Services League, the City welcomes all to join a traditional and memorable morning service to commemorate our brave soldiers and their families. Featuring live musical performances, hymns, a Wreath Laying Ceremony and The Haka.

Pioneers Tea - Cannington Exhibition Centre & Showgrounds
Wednesday 10 May 2023, 1pm - 3.30pm

The City celebrates and thanks those who have lived in the City's boundaries for 50 years or more (consecutively). This years event will be held at the Cannington Exhibition Centre at the Cannington Showgrounds where guests can enjoy a free afternoon tea with nibbles, refreshments and live music.

The City of Canning and Mayor Patrick Hall are very proud to announce the inaugural 2022 Camco Engineering - Mayor’s Charity Gala Dinner - the first time a Western Australian local government district has partnered with its business community to deliver a  gala civic event with a charitable purpose.The 2022 Camco Engineering - Mayor’s Charity Gala Dinner serves as a fantastic opportunity to network with like-minded businesses on this fun, inspirational and momentous occasion while giving back to a local Canning charity - Good Sammy Enterprises.


 


Muddy Hands Festival - Kent Street Weir

The Muddy Hands Festival is an event to encourage children and families to enjoy outdoor play by bringing unstructured playtime in to their everyday lives. With the help of our event partners Nature Play WA and the Plastic Free Riverpark Program at the Parks and Wildlife Service, the City of Canning aims to engage childrens' curiosity. By letting them own their journey through immersive experiences and hands on learning it also provides them a greater understanding of how to co-exist with local flora, fauna and the natural environment.


Carols By Candlelight - Civic Amphitheatre & Gardens

Featuring the Canning City Brass Band, Rossmoyne Community Singers, Avenue Jazz Band plus special guests, singalong and have a boogie to classic and new carols (program provided with lyrics). With roving entertainment, kid's craft activities and delicious food trucks - you'll be spoilt for choice for this family favourite on the City's Major Event Calendar.


New Year's Day Concert and Fireworks

New Year's Day is back for 2023! Celebrate the start of 2023 at the City's annual New Year's Day Concert and Fireworks. As always, this is a free, family-friendly event alongside the iconic and picturesque Canning river at the Shelley foreshore. The event will feature stage performances, kids entertainment and activities and plenty of food trucksoffering tasty treats. However, attendees are welcome to bring a picnic. This event will not have alcohol on sale.


Family Fun Day on Australia Day, 9pm - 2pm

On Australia Day we celebrate all the things we love about Australia: the great outdoors, a sense of fair go, lifestyle, the freedoms we enjoy but particularly our community.

This years event will kick off with a citzenship ceremony conducted the Mayor,  followed by all the normal stage entertainment you have come to enjoy at our Australia Day event along with our famous puppy parade.

Immerse yourself in a journey around the globe on four consecutive Thursdays commencing 9 February 2023. Enjoy a delectable and mouthwatering display of cuisine complete with entertainment to enhance the atmosphere. Each event will have plenty of roving and live entertainment in a gorgeous outdoor setting and celebrate cultures from across the globe. Make sure you get their early to find yourself a good spot for the night. Bring your picnic blanket, the entire family and your pooch to experience some different food and entertainment at the heart of Riverton.

A festival of Canning’s rich cultural diversity where food, people and customs are celebrated and the Hilliview Intercultural Centre is showcased. There will be some fantastic performers on the Global Streets Stage, plenty of activities for the kids, and lots of experiences to immerse yourself in  - to learn about the cultures and traditions of your neighbours.
