Canning Art Awards
NEW DATE: Returns September 2022.

 

The Canning Art Awards is back slightly later this year but is still providing same great opportunities to upcoming artists aged 12 +  to exhibit their work as well as a chance to share in a huge range of sponsored cash prizes. The Award showcases some of WA's best artists, a number of which are local to Canning! This professionally curated exhibition provides viewers with a powerful show of high calibre and diverse artworks.

Livelighter Canning Show

The City is proud to partner with the annual Canning Show again this year with a number of interactive activations from from our Leisure and Library teams to name but a few. There will be plenty to keep the whole family entertained for what is shaping up to be a fun-packed show brimming with entertainment and activities

Carols By CandlelIght

Featuring the Canning City Brass Band, Rossmoyne Community Singers, Avenue Jazz Band plus special guests, singalong and have a boogie to classic and new carols (program provided with lyrics). With roving entertainment, kid's craft activities and delicious food trucks - you'll be spoilt for choice for this family favourite on the City's Major Event Calendar.

Community Citizen of the Year Awards

Each year on Australia Day, the Community Citizen of the Year Awards acknowledge the contribution and celebrate community engagement of people within the community. Outstanding contribution and community service includes areas such as; education, health, fund-raising, charitable and voluntary services, sport, arts, social inclusion or any other area that contributes to the advancement and wellbeing of a community.


Family Fun Australia Day

Join us at Shelley Foreshore for a morning of family fun, and by family we mean your DOGS! Enjoy a 2km or 4km walk, a Canine Adventure Course, roving entertainment, stage shows and puppy parades. Plus food trucks serving up breakfast and coffee, hands on Aussie day themed activities plus the Community Citizen of the Year Awards. 
 

Mid Week Eats

A delectable and mouthwatering display of WA's best food tks across 3 weeks, with roving and live entertainment in a gorgeous outdoor setting celebrating cultures from across the globe. Bring a picnic blanket, the whole family and your pooch and enjoy a night under the stars in the heart of Riverton.

An event to encourage children and families to enjoy playing outdoors, bringing unstructured play into their everyday lives. We aim to engage children’s curiosity, letting them choose their own path with immersive experiences, hands on learning and a greater understanding on how to co-exist on this planet with local flora, fauna, and the natural environment.

ANZAC Service

Run in partnership with the Canning Sub-Branch of the Returned & Services League, the City welcomes all to join a traditional and memorable morning service to commemorate our brave soldiers and their families. Featuring live musical performances, hymns, a Wreath Laying Ceremony and The Haka, plus a free morning cuppa from the Canning Lions Club and the Sikh Association of WA.


Pioneers Tea

The City recognises and thanks those who have lived in the City's boundaries for 50 years or more (consecutively). Held at Woodloes Homestead, Pioneers enjoyed a free afternoon tea with nibbles, refreshments and live music. WA Day 
Monday 6 June 2022

From 6:00pm, the City will light up the sky with a number firework displays launched simultaneously for 10 minutes. The firework sites will be carefully selected and spread across the City to maximise viewing opportunities for residents as much as possible. These suburbs will be announced and notified before the event through letter drops, social media, e-newsletter and here on the website.
