Our sports grounds are available for use by local clubs based on a seasonal expression of interest process.

If you are a new club looking for ground allocation, please contact us at clubs@canning.wa.gov.au before making an application. We will help you through the application process and discuss ground suitability and availability.

Preference is given to clubs who had access the previous year. Preference is also given to local organisations. All other applications will be considered and provided for subject to availability.

Application requirements

To make an application, please complete and provide the following information:

  • Club contacts list
  • Pre-season training booking form – Coming soon
  • Application form for seasonal hire of Halls/Pavilions – Coming soon
  • Certificate of Currency for Public Liability Insurance
  • New applicants must provide proof of registration with governing sporting body (i.e. Football West, WAFC)
  • home game fixture list.

Once completed, please send all documents to clubs@canning.wa.gov.au.

Times for seasonal applications

These dates are provided as a guide only and are subject to change. Please contact us at clubs@canning.wa.gov.au for this season’s timeline.

Winter Season – April to September

Expression of Interest period opens early January. Applications are due by the end of January.
Clubs will be notified of ground allocation no later than early March.

Summer Season – October to March

Expression of Interest period opens early July. Applications are due by the end of July.
Clubs will be notified of ground allocation no later than early September.

Pre-season training

Applications for pre-season training will be accepted when the seasonal application process commences.

Pre-season training for summer clubs can commence in September and pre-season for winter clubs can commence in March. This is subject to the current season club commitments and the City’s maintenance schedules.

Access to grounds for practice matches is limited. Applications for practice matches will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us at clubs@canning.wa.gov.au to discuss.

Pre-season training is dependent on the completion of ground maintenance. Ground closures will occur between the last week of September and the first week of October, and the last week of March and the first week of April (subject to change). These closures are to prepare the grounds for the upcoming season.
