The Makerspace at Riverton Library is Reopening on Saturday 30 August 2025!
The Makerspace is your community hub for creativity, innovation and hands-on making. Whether you’re into crafting, prototyping, designing, or just trying something new – we’ve got the tools, space, and support to bring your ideas to life.
From sewing and laser cutting to 3D printing and vinyl cutting, our equipment is free to use for library members. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, the Makerspace is here to help you learn, experiment and create.
Opening hours
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday – 10am to 6pm
- Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday – 10am to 4pm
- Sunday – Closed

*Most equipment is available on a drop-in basis, but the laser cutter and 3D printers require an induction to be completed before use. Bookings for inductions will be available on Eventbrite.
Who can use it?
The Makerspace is free to use for all library members aged 12 and up. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Useful online resources
- Thingiverse – Thingiverse is a website dedicated to the sharing of user-created digital design files. Provides primarily free, open-source hardware designs licensed under the GNU General Public License or Creative Commons licenses. Download files and build them with your 3D printer, laser cutter, or CNC.
- Tinkercad – Tinkercad is a free-of-charge, online 3D modeling program that runs in a web browser. Features easy to follow tutorials to get started with 3D design.
- Emblaser 2 and LightBurn Tutorials – tutorials on using the Emblaser 2 laser cutter and engraver, and LightBurn software.

Cricut Maker 3
The Cricut Maker 3 is an electronic cutting machine that allows users to cut a variety of materials, including paper, vinyl, cardstock and leather. The Cricut machine works with the software called Design Space to help you create.
Projects the Cricut can be used for include but are not limited to:

Materials
Please bring your own materials to use when making your project on the Cricut.
There will be limited consumables for sale during our opening phase:
- Removable vinyl: $2 (30cm x 30cm) assorted colours
- Transfer tape: $2 (30cm x 30cm)
- Heat transfer Vinyl: $2 (30 x30)
- Limit: One of each per customer
- Eftpos payments only
