Critical accident in Queens Park

The City of Canning is deeply saddened by the death of a person following an accident involving a City recycling truck in Queens Park.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the person’s family and loved ones, and all those affected by this tragic accident. The City is also providing support to the staff member involved.

WA Police Major Crash Investigation Section is investigating the circumstances of the accident and the City is assisting fully with its enquiries. Further information, including details for anyone who may have witnessed the accident or have relevant footage, is available from WA Police.

While the investigation is underway, it would not be appropriate for the City to comment further on the circumstances of the accident.

The City of Canning is aware that a City employee has been charged in relation to the tragic recycling truck accident in Queens Park.

Our thoughts remain with Mr Yu’s family and loved ones as they continue to deal with their loss.

The City is providing appropriate support to the employee involved, and arrangements are in place regarding their duties while the legal process continues. As this is an individual employment matter, we will not comment further on those arrangements.

The City continues to cooperate fully with the relevant authorities. With investigations and legal proceedings ongoing, it would not be appropriate to comment further on the circumstances of the accident or the charge.
